Unique photographic record of Newport High St. from the 1960’s.

Following the well attended ‘tours of Newport High St.’ held in July and August 2014, sponsored by Newport and District Civic Society, the Society is holding an exhibition of a unique photographic record of either side of Newport High St. in the 1960’s. The photograph, which is some 20 feet in total length and 6 inches wide, provides a record of the shops, pubs and other buildings along the High St.
In addition, speakers from Wellington, the other main market town within Telford and Wrekin, will provide a short talk on what they have done to preserve and share the history of Wellington for the benefit and enjoyment of future generations.
The event, sponsored by Newport and District Civic Society, is being held on Tuesday 30th September 2014, commencing at 7.30 pm, at St.Andrew’s Church Hall, Church Aston TF10 9JG. A small admission charge of £2.includes for coffee and biscuits.
