The two housing applications i.e. Wellington Road and Audley Avenue, received approval for the reduction in the affordable homes element.
As regards the £2.75m. that the housebuilder for Wellington Road offered in relation to the reduction in the affordable homes element,Mr.Michael Barker when questioned by Cllr. Adrian Meredith,was unable to confirm that the money could be ring fenced for use only for affordable homes in Newport.
The application to reduce the previously approved 209 Care Village units on land opposite Mere Park Garden Centre to 108 care units and 111 homes was also approved. The agent for Taylor Wimpey said that construction on the site would start in autumn this year.
