Role and importance of the army to Shropshire

The Army in the West Midlands has played an important part in the economy of Shropshire for many years with the manufacturing and maintenance of military hardware.
With defence spending constantly under review at a time when the threats to peace in the world are seemingly ever present including the increased threat of ‘cyber warfare’, Major Malcolm Hill has been invited by Newport Civic Society to give a presentation on the history and role of the 11th Signal Brigade and Headquarters West Midlands based at the nearby Venning Barracks.

Major Malcolm Hill has extensive experience including various capacities throughout the world both on exercise and operationally, ranging from Chief Customs Compliance for NATO in the Balkans to SO2 Media Operations with various staff appointments throughout his long career. He has recently been employed at the 11 Signal and West Midland in an Employment Engagement & Army 2020 role.

The presentation will be held on –
Tuesday 27th FEBRUARY 2018, 7.30 pm in St Andrew’s Church Hall, Church Aston TF10 9JG.
A small charge of £2 is made for non-members to cover hall costs & refreshments. No charge will be made for any army cadets who wish to attend.
