Newport High Street – A Walking Tour with a Difference

By public demand following the well attended and much enjoyed tour in July last year of the upper end of Newport High Street in which Martyn Withnal provided amusing stories of the characters who frequented the upper part of the High Street in the 1950’s and 60’s, Newport Civic Society has arranged for Martyn to bring to life tales of those who lived in the lower part of town. These include Ozzy Osbourne during his time around Newport, Miss Allen and the wild bunch,a landlady who kept a monkey in a bedroom in one of the pubs and many more bizarre and amusing tales.
The walk will start outside Barclays Bank on the High Street at 7.30 pm on Tuesday 29 July 2014.
